MILWAUKEE – Mexican President Vicente Fox will address the convention of the National Council of La Raza in Milwaukee on July 17.
The July 14-18 convention is expected to draw about 15,000 people from across the United States, according to a council spokesman.
Fox is expected to discuss Mexico’s relationship with the United States, a topic that he’s made paramount in his new administration.
Elected in July 2000, Fox made Mexican history by breaking the 71-year-old ruling grip of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. Since then, he and
President Bush have met numerous times over U.S.-Mexican relations.
Bush also has been invited to the conference at the Midwest Express Center but has not replied.
Fox has a Wisconsin connection. He attended Campion, a Jesuit boarding school, in Prairie du Chien in 1956-57 as a high school freshman.
[ President Fox also just happens to be a former Coca-Cola company executive of 15 years. ]
