mundo.” … Borderhack forms part of the “Kein mensch ist illegal” (no one is illegal) chain of bordercamps. The event will take place in front of the metallic fence, which divides Mexico & U.S.A, during 3 days: August 16th, 17th and 18th.

Berlín, se dividió por accidentes y designios del
destino. Tijuana y San Diego es la misma ciudad,
la ciudad i, el punto que une al primer y tercer
mundo. La frontera se impone como un vórtex
dimensional tragándose a los viajeros sin papeles”

La frontera puede llegar a no ser tan real como
cuando se está junto a ella. No hay forma de
olvidarse o negar que uno se encuentra en el borde
de un mundo. Es muy facil escuchar los comentarios
descriminativos, deseos de convertir lo que en un
pasado fuera suelo mexicano, en parque de
diversiones para cazadores de migrantes y al mismo
tiempo puedes facilmente conservar imágenes en tu
mente de familias corriendo por el freeway 5 para
poder atrapar sus futuras vidas maravillosas , o
nobles indigenas en la aduana estadounidense
repitiendo “American citizen” como un disco
rallado, siendo su única esperanza una nueva vida
en los Estados Unidos. Niños jugando al gato y al
ratón con los oficiales migratorios y estudiantes
cruzando la frontera cada mañana para asistir a la
escuela.

Algunos le llaman a esta area Latinoamérica, otros
la llaman Tercer Mundo. De cualquier forma la
frontera está cerrada, el cerco nos recuerda que
hasta ahí es lo mas lejos que se puede llegar, un
paso mas y se necesita de credenciales, permisos,
cuentas de banco, un automovil y seguro contra
accidentes, para ver si la suerte te favorece y
puedas proseguir.

the third world. The border imposes it self like a
dimensional vortex swallowing the travelers with

“Borderhack!” is an
event, which central themes are borders, and the
impact that they have in our lives, may they be
physical or electronically; to bring conscience
worldwide and try to understand the reasons for
the problems that come with them and hopefully
come up with solutions. Borderhack forms part of
the “Kein mensch ist illegal” (no one is illegal)
chain of bordercamps, which takes place in various
borders in Europe since 1998.

This year it will take place for the third time,
in Latin-America. Being the border town of
Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, the host city.
The event will take place in front of the metallic
fence, which divides Mexico & U.S.A.

During 3 days, August 16th, 17th and 18th. There
will be a campground on the beach, were there will
be different activities like conferences, talks,
expositions of photography, digital art and
interactive multimedia; projections of documental
videos & films, as well as, a computer area, where
via the internet the festival will be in contact
with the rest of the world, transmitting live
video feeds, net radio, website updates and much
more.
