After hearing the distressing news last year that the “goddess of the yangtze” a river dolphin better known as the Baiji had been deemed extinct after scientists exhausted efforts to find one still living in the rivers of China (a water system that some feel is the most polluted in the world) there is this good news about two new ocean animals that have been found. One a beaked whale found in the pacific tropics and the other a new dwarf killer whale found in Antarctica. Don’t get your hopes up though, there are five remaining freshwater dolphins that still exist in the world, all of which are critically in danger of disappearing forever.
Thanks BoingBoing.
