Castro’s “Court Photographer” dead at 73

Cuban photographer Alberto Korda–best known for a widely reproduced 1960 photo of Argentine-Cuban leader Ernest "Che" Guevara–died of a heart attack on May 25 in Paris, where he was attending an exhibit of his works.

Cuban photographer Alberto Korda–best known for a widely reproduced 1960 photo of Argentine-Cuban leader Ernest "Che" Guevara–died of a heart attack on May 25 in Paris, where he was attending an exhibit of his works.

Recently Korda campaigned against the commercial use of the Che photo in ways that he said "dishonored" Guevara.

In 2000 he won a $50,000 settlement from a British agency that used the picture in vodka
advertisements; he donated the money to buy medicine for children.
